Grizzly Tracks........
« on: June 02, 2003, 06:06:34 AM »
Hope this is ok to post here, but nobody knows Gizz tracks better than you Alaska boys. I am in Washington State and was in the Pasaytan Wilderness this past weekend. Saw what had to be Grizz tracks. 7 inches from toe to toe and had the straight line from pinky to thumb along the palm. Any thing else I could look for. This gave me chills to see, they were fresh. It was very cool. Thanks in advance.

Sorry but the only good grizz tracks that I have ever seen still had bears standing in them.  Same goes for black bears but he was running in grass. So here is a little help for you.

Oop's, correction!  In Elim I followed a dual set going both ways along the trail to Next Creek. It was a fairly rocky soil and diffenently grizz as there are no blacks over there.  Just about to Next Creek the dog light up like a flare and I was sure that we had caught up with the maker of the tracks. What a relief when we rounded the bend and there was a young moose. Better than a bear in a treeless terrain.
