Will Forster Dies fit into RCBS Rock Chucker?
« on: July 25, 2007, 07:33:18 AM »
I was looking at the competition dies with the micrometer adjustments.  Is Forster better than RCBS?  Also, will the Forster fit the Rock Chucker press?

Is Forster better than RCBS?  That is a matter of opinion.  I have both along with Lee and Redding,  I really like the Forster Bench Rest Dies for concentric loads.  Will They fit your RCBS press?  Yes.

They do make some nice dies. Just for general info, I recently bought one of their new neck and shoulder bump bushing dies. Very nice die but a little pricey.   KN

I have a RCBS Rock Chucker and a Forster Ultra micrometer seater die in 223. I have seated lots of bullets with that combination with excellent results. ;) I also have a RCBS competition die set for the 222. I like both of them. I used the RCBS to seat 222, 223 and 221 Fire Ball. I used it for all three until I got the Forster. I think the Forester does just a little better job, but I really like the side loading of the RCBS. The RCBS is generic enough to use for any 222 family cartridges in .224 caliber, the Forster is not. Your choice, I do not think it will make much difference unless you are into precision bench rest competition. If you are then I would opt for the Forster, if not then the convenience and versatility of the RCBS is nice. Good luck to you. ;D

Just some more info...I really like the Lee colet neck sizer dies. I have got them in 22 Hornet, 222 and 223. I would have gotten one in 221 Fire Ball, but they do not offer them as standard fair. They make custom ones for about $54. I liked my others so well that I tried to special order one in 221 Fire Ball, but they sent my money back and said it was too short. The case is the same length as a 22 Hornet...go figure. If they offer them in your cartridge, buy the deluxe set. They come with 4 dies and cost some where around $25. Then get your seater die in the flavor that suits you. You will have a real nice set-up. ;D

Most dies and presses use the same standard threads.  I have a Rock Chucker press and use RCBS, Redding, Hornday, Lyman, and Forster dies.  I also have RCBS and Hornday shell holders.  The Hornday shell holders are a very tight fit and take a little effort to remove.
