FEG Browning look alikes, any good?
« on: July 26, 2007, 10:43:50 AM »
I was at a local gun-show over the weekend picking up a Rock Island model 1911, met a fellow who is into FEG Browning clones.  I was allowed to dry fire his gun, while not the best trigger out there, he was telling me of the low cost of buying one as he has 3.  Now he has me thinking about it too.

Are these still imported into the country in new condition?  Are they any good as far as durability and accuracy?  I remember when they came into the country years ago.  I have always wanted a Browning High Power, the retail cost on them is just too pricey for me.  And I have heard that the Brownings have 2nd rate triggers too.  The Hungarian made FEG may fit the need.

Thanks.

I have had and have BHP clones, some have been good some bad. The triggers on all P-35 Browning/clones is problematic. It has a magazine disconnect that can cause "gritty" trigger pulls. I have  Charles Daly clone setting on my desk as I type this. I do not know if the FEG is still being imported or not, but if you can find one for a reasonable figure I would buy it.  my2c   Doug

I was going to get one but all I tried were really stiff in the trigger and the safety. I'm sure they could be broken in. Instead I picked up a CZ75. Very similar grip, but a FAR better gun for not much more money.

jgalar...it is funny that you should suggest a CZ-75, I have two of them, one in 9 MM and the other in .40 SW.  The best semi-auto centerfires I have ever owned.
