I have a Shooters Ridge Rock Mount Adjustable Bipod 9" to 13" Swivel Mount on my NEF .223. I took it p-dog shooting last month and thought that it did a good job. The bipod makes the gun forward heavy if you try to do any off-hand shooting. There is also a pivot version of most brands. This would allow you to swing the rifle from side to side without having to move the bipod feet. Mine doesn't have the pivot and for shooting off of a table I did not find it a hardship. If I was shooting prone it might have been more of a pain.
When shooting with the bipod I still hold the forearm to minimize muzzle rise at the shot. I also took some bean bags and a sock filled with rice to place under the stock butt as needed for elevation adjustments.
Good Luck and have fun.
