How do I get the gormets back in my barrel?
« on: July 27, 2007, 01:44:29 AM »
Just got a deal on a contender 14" pistol only 1 problem. The gormets that attatch the forend to the barrel are missing. I am talking about the little metal parts that go into the barrel dovetails that the forend bolts screw into. Do I need to return the barrel to the factory or order new ones from customer service & install them myself. I am mechanically chalanged, ie it's hard for me to install a new light bulb.  Thanks

Hi
Easy fix...Call T/C and get the "grommets". They simply slide into the dovetail. If they are tight you may need to tap them in,or if they are loose you may need to tap the edge of the dovetail cut in your barrel. When you bend the edge "Slightly" it tightens the cut that the "grommet" goes into. You want them to be a little tight, so they do not fall out ...By the way They are called dovetail lock...T/C service number maybe 603-332-2441 They are also being sold on Ebay
Good luck
