pacific scope
« on: July 27, 2007, 08:08:04 AM »
I have a very old scope that is a 3-9 X 40mm with a center post type crosshair. It was manufactured by Pacific before they became Hornady-Pacific. Can anyone tell me anything about this scope and maybe what it is worth? It hold zero very well and has clear optics. I have used it on everything from .270 to .22 rimfire and it has always worked well.

I have no information for you on it but they never MADE scopes so it was just imported by them and to be honest I don't even recall when they imported them but bet it wasn't for long. As long as it works for you keep using it. When it fails look for a replacement.

Thanks for the reply. I mainly just wanted to know if I should still be using it or not since it works so well.

Sure as long as it works use it. No reason not to so long as it works.

How's the clarity and light transmission for you?  Despite what some people think, you really don't need the crystal clearest scope with 1,000% light transmission.  Don't get me wrong, it's great to have.  However, if most of your hunting (and shooting) is done during normal daylight hours, and your circumstances do not require razor sharp clarity, then your scope (which appears to hold zero, or so I'm guessing) should be just fine.
