I've been doing good work pillar bedding and glass bedding with a drill press, dremel, and hand tools. Looking to upgrade to a mill, so I need suggestions for a wood mill to make the process easier, more precise, and more professional looking in the end. I've looked at Grizzley mills, but just don't know . . .Thx!

I have been a tool maker for 20 yrs and I have looked at alot of machinery. If your talking about the Bridgeport knock offs they would make a really nice machine for wood working. Some of the smaller ones would be ok also. Do yourself a favor and get the nicest one you can afford. They are kind of like guns, you'll be glad you did in the long run. KN

I'll check out ENCO, Bridgeports are pretty pricey. These are a couple of the ones I was considering . . . .

Go with the bigger one. I have one almost identical to the smaller one and it's ok but its kind of a pain because of its size. The bigger one will serve you alot beter.KN

A mill is a nice addition to any shop, but a duplicarver would perhaps serve better for the purpose that you suggest. I am not suggesting a stock duplicator but a smaller machine used to replicate carvings. They will copy in 3 dimensions and with a high degree of accuracy. They can be had from most wood worker supply houses and will copy the inletting from one stock to another fairly quickly. They cost considerably less than a mill and will do the job a lot better and quicker to boot. Then save the extra bucks and check the used market. A very good Bridgeport can be had for a reasonable price.
