I was at Gander Mountain Wednesday and noticed the ammo price went up, I asked the sales men about it and he said it doubled in the past month. He also said it will probly go up again in November from what he was told.

No big shock. A lot of production capacity is going to the military. Both American and Iraq armies/police.

Most ammo has went up 10 to 15% and could go another 25% by the first of next year! I reload my own and the components for reloading is following. I reload for my 338 win mag for around $9.00 for a box of 20 and to go buy what I am loading is between $47 and $53 for a box with the same bullets.I guess before it is over there wont be much difference between reloading my own and buying new ammo.  It is ridiculous to say the least!!!!!   :(

Every thing is up; Bullets, cases, powder. I just was at Duck Hill and some of my favorite powders are $25 a pound. The only thing that is not up is primers, but I can't to get those. When the supply of those comes back, look for a price increase there too. :(

I see a box of 375 remington UM factory ammo is now a cool $100. Ouch. Glad I don't shoot that rifle.

Rj,

You are loading 338 win mag ammo for just $9 per 20? What bullet is it that you can load for .45 per round, that would otherwise run $50 per from the factory??? Or did I mistake what you were conveying??

I guess if I were shooting factory ammo in the 375 RUM, I'd do a little more shopping to compare prices or consider reloading, that stuff is not only expensive, it's not easy to find, the first two sources I checked, Midsouth and Grafs don't carry it at all.  :-\

As far as bullet cost, I shop a lot at Nosler's seconds page in the Shooter's Pro shop, as you can see from their depleted inventory, so do others, it's a great place to save some money if you order enough to cover shipping!! ;)

I know, I bought a box of their weight sorted and prepared brass at $49 over a year ago for the 280 Improved project , then bought a bag of their seconds a few months ago for $35, seems to be good stuff, I like properly headstamped brass, same for the 338-06 A-Square which is even more expen$ive!!  :o

I calculated CT 200 Ballistic Tips and IMR 4350 and Fed Primers. I bought everything on sale and am coming to 9.80 a box with what I have in everything. Cabelas has the Win shells with the CT BT for the prices I stated

I have a pretty good supply of reloading components & ammo. I pick up a little if I see it marked down. I'd rather load my own but when I saw 300WSM ammo at Wal-mart a year or so at $11 or 14 a box I had to buy a few even though I don't use that gun often.

I bought a box of 50 PMC 240 gr. 44 mag. for $18.99 before Memorial day weekend. Was in the same shop on Friday & the same ammo is now $29.99! :o
