Handloading for the Handi

I have been reading this board for a couple of days and think it is great.  I have read some posts about handloading for the handi and that they may not handle as much pressure as other action types.  I want to get a .223 for coyotes and will want to load some fairly hot loads, is the handi a good choice and will it handle the pressure?  If it will is there anything I should know about loading for a handi that may be different from any other rifle?

My .223 (1-12 twist) Likes a mid power load, groups got loose as the power went up, this was with a few dif brands of projectiles (55 Grain), and IMR-4895
My .243 did the same, and ended up liking VARGET the best, about mid power load.

Maybe with lighter bullets it would do better pushing them a lil harder, I never seen Pressure signs with the .223, just looser groups.

Here's my coyote. p/dog loads.

55gr el cheapo's for p'dogs and summer coyotes where the shooting is the only thing that matters.

For Fur season, 40gr V max        +- 3650fps in 26"  they don't exit, no damage

charge/powders etc    23gr AA2200 if you can find it!!, 2015 is about the same, work up to make sure.

25gr 4895        +- 3000 in 26"

Some yrs ago step son had some buddies working in an appliance/furniture store.
Wife and I bought a bunch from them because we knew 'em.

Boy came in one day and said they were making fun of us for paying the full listed price and not offering less.  Oh boy, I never knew you could do that in THAT kind of store.

I've been working with a .223 Handi for about a year and my experience has been that they can be finicky about loads. But yesterday I had quite a bit of success in the accuracy dept with the following loading:

Remington cases
Remington 50 grain PSP bullet
26.5 grains of RL-15
CCI benchrest primer
2.250" OAL


The  data that I used states that this load should develop about 3100 fps from a 22" barrel. An added benefit is the fact that the Remington bullets are available at bulk rate prices from the big warehouses such as Midway or Natchez.

RL-15 is the slowest powder that I've tried in my .223 Handi and the success that I had with it leads me to believe that slower powders are the way to go.

The only other load that I've tried which compares to it utilized match 53 grain HP's and a moderate charge of H322. The Remington PSP/RL-15 load demonstrated comparable accuracy at about 150fps greater velocity.
