Fred Rodney was the owner, operator and chief cook and bottle washer of Gonic Arms. He made an in-line muzzleloader with tight tolerances that could use large powder charges.

He also made a muzzleloading TC Contender barrel in 38,44,45 and 50 calibers. He had a 16 1/4" and a 23 " barrel. I once owned a 16" 45 with a muzzle brake. I sold it because it was a pain to load due to the brake and hoped to buy a 50 in the near future.

Sad to say, Fred passed away and so the company no longer exists as it once did. I had heard that his son does some work and can do a custom barrel but this is second hand information. They show up at the gun show circuit now and then.

I always get in trouble when I say this, but.......................you can but the G2 .50 cal. muzzleloader barrel and cut/grind off the pin protruding from the bottom of the lug and use it on a regular contender. The only problem is that it voids T/C's warrenty but how much trouble are you gonna have with a smoke pole that needs warrenty work?

I converted the 23" G2 as described above. It works well. I called TC before purchasing and asked if there was a safety issue and they said no it is more of a cleaning issue as the old contender frame has more parts. ?. I use 100 gr. Jim Shockey Gold and do not have any residue behind the breech. i also clean my guns on a regular basis. Using a powerbelt, loose powder and peep sights (Colorado hunting) it is quite accurate. Bullberry may make a custom barrel also.
