Arthritis and traps

I wonder if you guy find setting the long springs easier on your hands than the coil springs? That's my experience.

 You will find that which ever trap you use the most, is easier for you to set.Practice makes perfect--be it longspring or coilspring.

If you like coils over LS they make setting tools for just about any trap made.

Hmmm figured that young pup of a Boggy would say something like dat!   No matter what you are used to setting  the arthritic trap will come along and you find out what others have  said but   when you dont have it , you dont give it a thought untill that fatefull day when you got to set a trap and  you crunch down and your hands go   (Ouchy) and you grunt and bear thru it setting and wonder .... Hmmm  did i sprain my hand  somewhere?   But after a few more setting you got oh-oh ....bet that i have A......... Yep!   LOL

I used to make fun of my younger and bigger brother because he couldn't set any of my big beaver traps by hand.  I guess the years are catching up to me because it gets a little harder each year to get those #5's to break over. I can still set them by hand, but like RdFx said its a little "ouchy" sometimes. Worm

Yeppers, i probably could too yet but would have to warm up the ol wrists and fingers.  I will go with my setters as  safe my strength for carring the bvrs out to truck... buggers are  always aways away from truck...LOL

I don't deal much with the big traps. But by about the 3rd day of coon season my hands get pretty sore. That is just from popping open 1 1/2 coils all day. Seems like about the time my hands get back in shape for setting traps,  my vacation is over. I guess like they say, "If you don't use it you loose it."
