.45 BigBore AirRifle
« on: July 31, 2007, 12:07:23 AM »
I saw this Big Bore section on the site and felt obligated to put up a post about my modified .453(to my best measurement) air rifle.  Click the picture for a slide show.  Or hit up the full chrony and accuracy report on the following link if you have a few minutes.  This rifle is a hoot!

Wow I thought at least one of you big-bore fans would comment on having one of these BigBore Adult Airguns.  They are a bunch of fun and require no powder, primer, or casings!

Well I watched it and the durn slide show is a bit fast for me.  How about some details on the rifle and ammo?  I saw the 780 FPS, at least I think I did.  Is that a pump rifle or pre-charged?

Nevermind the ammo details, I read the link, but tell more about the rifle.

Yea the 780 fps was the 180 grain swaged BBC BP Pistol Bullet and that group was at 25 meters.  I think it will go closer to 800+fps now.  Keep in mind I realized later on that the barrel was severely leaded from firing way-oversized swaged bullets through it during the previous session.  There is also an O-ring in the breech-slide that needs replacement.  The velocity on each load should be a little bit higher now.  I used the 180 grain BBC to instantly kill a nutria the other day.
The rifle is filled with a scuba tank or hand pump to about 3200psi.  Just regular air.  It sounds just like a .45ACP but maybe 8/10's the volume  (still really loud).  Anything in particular you want to know?  It is a ton of fun that is certain!  Your powder-burners may gather some dust after getting into these bigbore air rifles.  Here's the next one I'm getting!  Hoping to take some really big hogs with it!  The groups at the bottom of this page were shot casually at 50 yards using 205 grainers.
