Midway USA 6.5 26" Encore Swede Barrel

Anyone have one of these?

Midway lists this as a 26" barrel.  I sent them an email asking if this was a "Heavy Barrel" taper or standard.  Their reply was was that TC provided them the barrels and they had no clue.

Called TC and they handed me off to the custom shop.  The folks in the custom shop stated that they were a special run from TC and that all they did was crown them.  Nice lady had no clue if the were the "Heavy Barrel" configuration or not but suspected that they were as it was a 26" barrel.

What I'm trying to find out, is if anyone here on GBO has one and if it is the "Heavy Barrel" configuration.

Well Bill, I was hoping someone who had ordered a barrel from Midway would sound off but I will tell you what I have.   I bought a used 6.5 x 55 TC barrel about 4 years ago.  It is 24" tapered, blued with no iron sights.   The custom shop can make them in any configuration, but  I would guess the 26" would be a heavy barrel.   I wanted a 24" heavy  in 7mm08 so I had to have the custom shop make one.  They probably chopped off  a couple of inches of a 26" heavy & stamped it with "T/C CUSTOM SHOP".

Well, I talked to Midway, and again they have no clue.

Speaking with customer service, I have been assured that I may return the barrel if it is not what I want.

I have not pulled the trigger on the order key yet, I'm looking around at various other options.

I have had a 6.5 Swede for years in a model 96, and quite a few South Carolina Whitetails have been put in the freezer with it. 

I was thinking of the Encore Swede barrel for the better half.  Low recoil, hard hitting, and just in general a fine whitetail round.  I have a new 25-06 HB that I just finished working up loads for.  Planning on using this for myself this year.

I load up "low end" loads of the Swede for my Gustov 1913 Mauser with Varget and Hornady's SST bullet. With the open sights this "old" war horse will whack the 200 yard pie plate all day. It will reach farther with the same accuracy with younger better eyes....but let's not talk about that.

The Swede is a fine bullet for deer. I certainly can see why you would want one for the Mrs. Flat shootin, low recoil and will shoot the eye's out of fly's at 100 yards. Even if it's not a bull barrel I would think it would still be one accurate shooter.
