I bought a pt908 tonight used,,my question is when the slide is pulled back should the barrel feel likes its floating.?

It should have pretty free movement when the slide is pulled back. If it is locked in place, then something is wrong, that will cause friction when the slide is moving.

Corbanzo is correct. I own two 908's. They are great guns for the $. They were made when Taurus made quality firearms and had excellent customer service.
