Any opinions on the Mossberg 817?
« on: August 02, 2007, 03:17:29 PM »
.17 HMR bolt action with integral weaver bases for MSRP $161 (so I'm guessing around $120 to $130 street price).  Seems interesting.  I certainly wouldn't mind one to play around with :D.  Does have a synthetic stock with no wood or laminate option though :(.

No replies.  Guess no one wants to be the first to try one.  I saw one today at Academy ( Texas sporting good store) for $159.  I too am interested in finding out how they perform.  But I guess, like others,  I just have not been willing to "pull the trigger", so to speak, on the purchase, yet.

Do a search on Rimfire Central..I know it's been discussed there in the past.

Myself, I'd rather put another $40-50 to that and get a proven savage or marlin...I love my Marlin 917V

I saw it in the racks at Dick's today marked down (or on sale) for $129.  Since I have 0 interest in the .17 HMR, I didn't look at it too close.  It just caught me off guard to see a Mossberg .17HMR.

I have one.  Not so good quality. My chamber is a little to big and causes cases to split and have to be
pulled out with pliers. Accuracy ain't bad. Today I bought a Savage Btvs thumbhole stock with heavy
stainless barrel, and it severly out shoots the Mossberg.
