Yep Sourdough, D'ham is home for me. Went up river for 4 days last week. No bou anywhere but I didn't look hard. A friend who flies saw none and he did a lot of flying. My boys and I had a ball though. My oldest caught his first pike, grayling, broad whitefish and- of all things suckers! He caught the suckers on salmon eggs ( I never have caught a sucker) and he caught the white fish on a wobbler while trying for pike! Never did that either and I've tried! My youngest caught and landed his first silver - a nice 10-11 pounder. He was very pleased. Had a fox watch us pick berries - to the delight of my boys. And was awakened by wolves howling when we camped near Portage Cr. No bears or bear problems - just the way I like it. Saw a few cow moose. We had a good time visiting the villages of Ekwok and New Stuyahok. Fun to hang out on the river bank and visiit with the good folks up there. I was eager for my boys to see the villages and meet a few folks up there - so nice. A few folks were smoking silvers in Ekwok and the smell was wonderful. I was worried we'd miss that as usually all the fish smoking is done by mid July. Weather was hot, breezy and perfect for blowing the bugs away.
Oops, didn't mean to do a hijack. None of our fish measure up to Cobo's but we did have a lot of fun.
