Does anybody have some info on this carriage? It looks pretty easy to make.

rifleshooter2,

Can you do a closer scan on the gun itself? It looks odd, (maybe homemade) in the photos but, if we could see a close up shot maybe someone can help.
If you make it idiot proof, then, someone will make a better idiot.

Interesting, I have never seen one like that before. From the looks of it I would say it was made to fold up for ease of storage or transportation. Pretty neat.  Tracy

+1 on the made to fold idea.... I think I would be somewhat worried about it folding on firing though.  High enough that a lot of bending over isn't required... at my age that becomes a consideration.

OK I found the site. But still not much info on this type of carriage. It's supposed to be a French Marine Carriage

I'm surprised it does not tip over to the rear from recoil.  Maybe you can get away with the design with a 3 pounder.

Yeah eh, the size of that barrel in relation to all that wood looks like anything bigger will tip it. But I've never seen or tried any carriage like that before so I could be wrong. Is it adjustable or could it be set a little lower? Neat all the same!

Do you suppose it might be a "manual disappearing gun"? Fire, pull the pin and it lowers behind the rail, parapet or what ever.
Maybe?
