Building Rifle Barrels
« on: August 04, 2007, 07:38:02 AM »
I picked up a recent edition of Guns 'n Ammo magazine and found an interesting article on the making of rifle and handgun barrels. http://www.gunsandammomag.com/techside/crown_120804/  This link is the on line version of the article (which is the same, only with less (or no) pictures). I've read a lot of different articles on barrel making and how it was done "in the old'in days and such and how it is done today, but this article does "somewhat" of a good job of explaining the different types of methods of production and why they call 'em what they call 'em.

It's interesting to note that two barrels can be made on the same day, from the same stock, by the same maker, one right after the other, and both barrels will not "like" the same ammo and will shoot the same ammo a bit differently (if I am saying correctly what I am trying to say).

Anyway...just an FYI and I thought a good read for those who find this stuff interesting.

Dave.
