fixed barrels-DW
« on: August 06, 2007, 02:26:08 AM »
Back in the early '90's, when I had an FFl, I was selling quite a few DW's, XP's and a few other silhouette pistols. I met Seth Wesson when the IHMSA Intl's were in Ft. Stockton,Texas one year. He showed me the NEW fixed barrel's they were coming out with. Said that their plan was to go after the police market, as the dept's, didn't like the idea of the barrel being screwed on like that. 'Course that went over like a lead balloon, as all the LE's were going to hi-cap 9mm's and the like. Those fixed barrelled guns went real cheap, as the distributers I got them from, were dumping them out as DW was sinking fast. Never got the chance to shoot one. Just wondering if anybody had any experience with one? I havn't seen one in over a decade, might buy one if the price is right, maybe send it back to CZ and get the barrel changed over to the standard style. Just a thought. gypsyman

I picked up a couple of these at gun shows a few years back.  Both are stainless.  One has a 4 inch barrel and the other has a 3 inch barrel.  They were both manufactured in Palmer, MA.  Both guns have been 100% reliable and are every bit as accurate as other revolvers I have owned including several S&W 686's and Ruger GP 100's.  I paid $250 for one and $225 for the other and both are in excellent condition.  I consider both to be a bargain considering the service they have given and have no plans to part with either.

I bought a NIB fixed barrel 357 magnum (Palmer) about ten or twelve years ago for $250.00. It had a 6" fixed barrel with a compensator on it. I sent it in to the factory and had it converted to the interchangeable system with a 21'2" barrel and had a bobbed hammer installed. I also had night sights installed along with some smaller rubber grips. It is now an excellent CCW gun. I've used it for years with no problems. jwk
