A possible positive use for Taurus guns, educational?
« on: August 07, 2007, 11:22:36 AM »
With all the bad Taurus guns that are being made, coupled with poor customer service, how about an educational opportunity?  After all if you have made the mistake of buying one, and you can get some value out of your purchase.

How about looking at Taurus as a kit project gun?  Since they seem to come with problems, and the prices are lower than Smith and Wesson, a person could learn gunsmithing by repairing them himself.  Look at how so many of the Ruger 10/22's need upgrade parts to get them to work well, Taurus accessories could sell too.  Taurus guns could also be donated to gunsmithing schools for tax write offs, the students could fix them and learn about bad quality control in a large gun maker.

Remove the innards, cylinder, etc. so they won't fire and weld them onto the hood of a car as a decorator hood ornament.  Dewat them and use them as theatre props for the local drama club.

If in a high crime neighborhood, leave them on the top of a night stand, the crook will use it instead of a real weapon to threaten you, then you can use a baseball bat to deal with the hoodlum knowing that he can't hurt you.  A fetch toy for the dog?  A convenient hammer when pounding nails in the backyard.  Rust experiments, black powder time effects, leaving it out in the rain, let farm animals deficate on it to simulate battlefield conditions.  Using it as a target for your .45 ACP caliber Ruger or Smith and Wesson made gun, how about your 30-06 at 150 yards?  Just tie it to a post and let it swing.

Have people at the local gunshow swap parts out of each other's Taurus handguns, to get enough parts to make a real functioning gun, this could take 2-4 Taurus guns to get this to work.  Buy the contributors a six-pack for their contribution.  Sell it to one of those buy back programs that don't work, which the liberals periodically have, get a $100.00 gift certificate, or new tennis shoes.  And laugh about how the liberals think they are stopping the crime problem by buying broken unwanted guns!

Build a display of your inoperative Taurus guns for the next gunshow to warn others of a possible disaster that will befall them it they buy one too!  Sell it to one of those anti-gun liberals who think it is ok if they have a gun for protection, but not other Americans, like Senator Fienstein of CA.

I could go on and on, but these are some really good areas to consider.
