Longer scope bases for an Encore

 OK here's my problem, I have a scope mounted on my 30-06 that has plenty of eye relief a Leupold VXIII 3.5x10 but the mount I'm currently using do not allow me to take advantage of the eye relief. My scope mount is a steel redfield, this thing puts the scopes ocular out over the stock's cheek piece. I had bought an aluminum weaver style base but found it to be too flimsy allowing for considerable upward and downward deflection.

 I've been looking at the T/C Gorilla grip style mount & rings thinking the I beam construction of the base would be considerably more rigid. Am I barking up the wrong tree? Do ya'll have any other cost effictive suggestions.

I have a Gorilla grip encore mount.  I was expecting a 1-piece when I ordered it, turns out it is a 2-piece.  It only uses Gorilla rings...  I bought a TC 1-piece steel weaver-style base and used Weaver rings with an extended front ring.  The base is still fairly short but the extended front ring allows me to move the scope forward a good inch...  What type rings does your Redfield mount accept?  Maybe you can order extended rings that will work.  Brownells has some good guys in the tech department that have helped me find the right ring/base combo in the past...

Most Leupold, Redfield, and Burris Rings for that type mount are interchangeable. You could get the extension rings of your choice. They usually offer any combination of extended front, rear, or both. Also, I believe the Warne type mount from T/C will give you a little more spacing on the scope tube, but you will need all new bases and rings. Hope this helps.

 The extended rings only give you a little over half an inch I need about 3

Go with the Warne mount, that is all I will use on my Encores. I also use the Warne rings as well.

 Thanks for the replies, I was unaware that a steel weaver base was available. I've got a warne base on my MidwayUSA wish list that I'm just about to pull the trigger on.
