I picked up some 330 Gr. and 405 Gr cast HPs in a deal with a 45/70 and was wondering if anyone has ever tried to use this Dia. bullet with a sabot in a 50 Huntsman ? and if so what were your results ?
More just thinking to myself but i think i'm going to like this ML stuff .

Not in a Huntsman, but I've used a couple cast bullets sized to.457" for use in sabots in a Cabela's Hawken, the Lyman 457122 and 457406 worked pretty darned good in the 1:28" twist barrel, very accurate, but never made meat with em.

I've been shooting .458" bullets with Knight orange sabots for the past 4 years in my Savage muzzle loader. I've shot both the 300 grain JHP and 405 JSP Remington bullets and they both shoot good in the 1-24" twist. I've taken a few deer with the 300 grain bullets and one with the 405's. The 300's will drop deer more quickly but expect alot more meat damage.
I also use these same bullets in my Marlin 45-70 and have taken several deer with it. I believe the .458" rifle bullets are better suited to the velocities you acheive with a muzzle loader. Most handgun bullets aren't made to be pushed at the speeds a muzzle loader will launch them.
GOOD SHOOTING!
