That would really depend on the model of scope.  You can have a 40mm that is better than a 50mm or vice versa.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both.

I like a 40mm objective or smaller because it mounts much lower to the receiver than a 50mm.

Depending on the gun/scope/mounts, a 50mm can be difficult to mount and often requires a high or extra high ring.

Optically, a 50mm should be able to collect more light but practically, the difference is not very noticeable. If you hunt at night then a 50mm scope with fully multi-coated Len's might be marginally better but not necessarily.  If I have to shoot quick I place my cheek against the stock and a scope mounted high just doesn't line up right for me.

Personally, I don't want anything bigger than a 40mm.  That said, there are many people who find a 50mm desirable.

the brand is barska i can't afford most of the other brands maybe later on but i have heard good about them lately and also heard konus is a pretty good scope to and 40mm i think will work good on my huntsman muzzleloader and will be using high rings anyway due to hammer clearence so will take some getting used to. so any opinions of the barska huntsman scope in 3x9x40 or 50 mm or the 3x12x40 looking for decent scope for deerhunting.using weaver 82 base to.

I'd have to say that you're not going to find your decent scope if you limit your self to the under $50 class of scopes. The old adage "you get what you pay for"  really comes into play here. A missed shot, broken recticle, fogged up scope, or any other scope failure is not worth ruining my hunting trip just because I tried to save a few bucks on optics.  Do Yourself a favor and jump up to the $89 class of scopes for your bottom line, look at a Bushnell Trophy 3X9X40 for that price and you won't be cursing Murphy's law after your muzzleloader misses by a foot to the left and there's no followup shot available as your buck bounces off over the next ridge. Don't waste a deer hunt on a $29 scope. There are several decent,  under $100 scopes out there that are a better choice than a BSA, Barksa, Tasco, Simmons, NCStar, et al, especially for a muzzleloader. If you to succomb to the sub$50 Chinese scopes at least carry a screwdriver in your pocket so you can take the scope off in the field and throw it, and continue to hunt the rest of the day with the iron sights.
