Their a good outfit to order custom barrels from, myself I have 2 on order at this time and will be ordering 2 more next week.  Prices right now are cheaper than factory barrels.  I have a 5.7x28 SST Encore barrel and a 22lr Encore barrel ordered at this time and will be ordering 7.62x39 and 45 AutoRim next week

they do excellent work and have fairly decent build times, usually under 6 weeks. I've got around 20 tubes from them now, everything from a .17mach2 to 445 supermags, in both carbine & pistol configurations. Jut put together a 30/30 Ackley Improved & a .414 Supermag  this week from them, and their muzzle brake design is  great:

Considering the pedigree of the work force there, the barrels should be good, they were the folks that learned how to do what they do at Virgin Valley if I'm not mistaken.  I have two barrels from them, both Carbines, one in 6mm TCU and the other in 357 max.  They both are excellent barrels and were both good values that were  promptly delivered.

Actually I think it would be more appropriate to say they learned the trade at Bullberry as that's where much of the VVCG folks worked before splitting off and setting up their own shop. Now part of the VVCG crew is open for business as MGM.

They are now advertisers on this site.

Another vote for MGM barrels. I have a 17 HMR carbine barrel and I am extremely happy with it. Build quality and accuracy are top notch.

I'm waiting on my MGM 6.8 barrel. Should be here this week.
More excited about it than the first day of deer season.

Old Coach, how did you manage that price? I was looking at their website and I dont see anything under $300. Did I miss a sale or am I looking in the wrong place?

MGM had a bbl sale in July using up left over bbl blanks for $200. Bbls were odd lengths, all under 14 inches. They just had an August sale for up to 14 inch in any cal. for $240. I happened to see a post on here about the sale and got lucky, I hope.

Yeah, I read something yesterday about the sale when I was reading older posts. I had been away from the site for awhile. Everytime I visit, I always leave wanting to go out and purchase another barrel.....

Well I just received the first of the MGM barrels I ordered!! ;D  Workmanship is excellent, chamber is tight and square with the bore.  Couldn't be happier except if I can get it together for the first range session

It's a 5.7x28mm Encore barrel, 14inches in length.  Just need to get the 10x Burris scope mounted up ... add the Straton hanger bar ... and continue to wait for the Georgia Jim furniture I ordered.

I just received my MGM barrel this past week from the July sale (a 13" 6.5x55).  I took it out yesterday for a quick sighting in session.  It was every bit as accurate as I expected, but the real surprise came when I got home and cleaned it.  The first Hoppes soaked patch came out a little dirty, the following dry patch had nothing but Hoppes on it.  There was virtually no fouling in the bore.  Is this the norm for MGM barrels?  If so, I want more of them!

I shot my 22BR MGM barrel that I bought on the sale for the first time last weekend as well.  I was running 40 and 50 gr. blitzkings out of it up to 3300 fps.  I tried the whole "break-in" procedure and it seemed pointless, there was just not fouling.  So after 20 rounds I went another 30 rounds without cleaning.  I pass with boretech and the next patch had a little.  One more soaked patch came out the same color as it went it.  I swabbed it dry and put a light coating of oil in the bore.  I was amazed!  Accuracy was ok, I expect it to get better with load development.

I had  similar results shooting my 11" 40 S&W from the July sale. I put about 100 rounds made up with  AAC #2Improved through it, and the 2nd patch came out clean!    I was VERY pleased with the accuracy as well!  I was shooting much better with it than with my T/C 41mag and 38 Spl bbls!   The loads that I had on hand were made up using mixed brands of brass, and I was easliy able  to pick out the GROUPS made by different brands of  brass!... That is, as opposed to having a target that looked like it was hit with a shotgun.....
