Olbiffer and Peter Cartwright, whats the status on the wolves up there? I heard theres getting to be a lot of them and starting up some problems. I'm just curious about this.

Plenty of wolves in the Western U.P.  I've heard anecdotal reports of concern about wolf danger to dogs.  Seems like the stories most often involve hounds that are not in proximity to people (e.g. running bears, for example).  Wolves are apparently VERY territorial and male dogs are seen as competition.  I've never had a problem, but I "carry" when I'm working my bird dogs.   There have also been incidents of predation on domestic livestock.

Don't think people have much to fear from wolves.  Since states now have authority to manage wolf population, the DNR can deal with them if they become a problem.  Wolves add to the mystique of the U.P.  I've only seen one.

about 5 or 6 years back my buddy and I were deer hunting near seney,  actually just north of McMillian, we had a wolf come up by our campsite one night. It just looked around a little then left. It stayed back about 30 yards all the while it was there. I thought it was pretty cool.

While on this subject anyone from the Dearborn Hghts Mi 48125 area? If so I'd like to talk with you either via PM or phone. I don't mind using my dime if you'll give me a number and time to call.

We have a "sorta missing in action member" who lives there that I'd like to ask a question or two about to see if anyone can shed some light on the matter if you're in the area.

Eastern U.P.  Between The Soo and Brimley.  Been here since 1988 and plan on finishing my days up here! (Although I hope that finish doesn't come too soon!)

That still amazes me…I don’t care who you are or how much I care about you, I would never let you kill my son.  I can’t even begin to understand how much He loves us.

I think that's more west than north.  To go very far north from Houghton/Hancock, you need to have your home on pontoons!

I love it up here!

Is it west? It's right next to calumet. On that finger that sticks up into lake superior.
