What holster to get for a 7 1/2" super redhawk?

I have been looking at all these different holsters & really don't know what to get. I have a 44 mag. super redhawk & don't plan on putting a scope on it. I'm kinda liking the cross chest design. I'm really not to sure on the brand. I have a hard time shopping mail order, more of a hands on person if you can understand. Something like this is really hard to decide on. I would be using this for hunting in brushy areas & green briars (thats where the big ones hide). Figured easier to carry a hand gun than a rifle & a better chance at a quick shot unscoped.

I carried a 7.5" Super Blackhawk in either a Safariland or Bianci leather rig for almost 20 yrs.  It was noisy and squeaked no matter what I did to it; it would get wet and tighten on the gun; it was not quick to present - sometimes I couldn't get the gun out on time, vergis would form on the shell casings, yada, yada, yada.  At this time I would go with something in the ballistic nylon line, one not press-molded to the gun but one with a bit of room in it so you're not draggin' the holster around while you're trying to get the gun out.  HTH.  Mikey.

Bianchi makes a nice bandalero/side chest holster that can be had with storm flap. Has some quiet material/stuff inside for silent draw, very cool.

I have two of the SH7B. One for a Smith 629 6 1/2" and the other for a Smith 460 XVR in 7 1/2".

They are very comfortable, quite on the draw and securely hold the gun. The craftsmanship and quality are excellent.

I too like the hands on approach to shopping, however I've found that by trying out in larger sporting goods stores then buying on line is a better deal.  The ballistic nylon is definitely the best way to go for practical woods carry.  At the pistol counter, you can usually find a similiar size pistol and tell the clerk to match it with a holster and try it for fit and feel.  If you like it and it's too pricey; then get brand and model number and shop on line for the best price.

I bought an Alessi shoulder holster for my 44 SRH. It pivots to draw the gun, has a pouch for ammo. It's a great holster.

I have had both Uncle Mikes and Bianchi bandoleer style holsters for my scoped Smith 44 mags. They were both noisy in the woods. You could hear them rubbing on my clothing and they were especially noisy when trying to remove the weapon while on stand where quite is paramount.
I would vote for the leather holsters. They are quite, custom fitted and well worth the extra money.

bianchi cross draw , leather is the way to go ! the one i have can be worn as a cross draw or regular strong side , works in woods by keeping if from hitting on rifle or shotgun which i carry on strong side , also good on atv or on pu truck ! tried the nylon and they were well flimsy and just don't look right to me ! son got caught up in a Brier patch and cut my nylon one to pieces , replaced it with leather and it has scratches for sure but still works !

I have the Bianchi HuSH bandoleer also. It protects the gun nicely, especially with the flap. However, I agree it is very noisy removing the gun. Furthermore, the snaps on the retaining strap and the holster are of dissimilar materials; one snap is metal, the other is plastic. I don't understand why they could not make both snaps metal, as I believe the plastic one will eventually wear out.

In my opinion, the Bianchi is no better than the Uncle Mikes yet it cost twice as much. The Galco Kodiak looks like a nice holster but I have not handled one.
