Deer food????
« on: August 19, 2007, 04:10:51 AM »
Hello everyone, I was just wondering about something. Will deer eat rabbit food (pellets)? I was just wondering because I have some and I was thinking about trying it. Just thought I would ask y'all first.    Thanks for any help

I have never tried it, but the most that can happen is, they don't eat it and you have a bunch of rabbits on your pile. LOL :D

I will bet thats what they were feeding those rabbits that they had mounted for sale at the wal drug touruist stop on I-90.  They used the ones with the antler growth powder mixed in.   JIM

If you feed deer it's recommended to not use feed with animal products in it.

The pellets will melt and turn to mush after one rain fall.

The rabbit food is likely mostly alfalfa based with a hint of molasses.  They will eat it, i don't think it will hurt them, several of the deer foods are basically the same thing, just jazzed up with corm and vitamins.  It will turn to mush after a rain, but the quail will eat what is left.

Hey JHM, is there anything a goat won't eat? I've heard of tin cans, dynamite and plastic sheets. Enquiring minds want to know! ;D

TnJim :  I cant say as I have no experience with goats, but deer will eat any cattle feed that is out there after the cattle have had their fill, I took a bag of dog food out and put it out once to just get rid of it and later say some deer milling around it didnt see any actually eat any but it was all gone in a few days,  I just asumed it was a lot of coons and birds that got the most of it.   JIM
