Loaded the Hornady 240 gr. xtp hp with 23.8 gr. of H-110 & CCI 350 primers in 44 mag. WOW! My uncle shot 6 rounds from my 44 mag. Super redhawk. The muzzle flash was about 12" to 15" long which I didn't even see when I shot it. We were shooting freehand at a 25 yd. target & wasn't to bad for shooting the gun right out of the box. It was about 2" to the left, I'm a right handed shooter & my uncle's a lefty & it was the same for him too.
This was the best round I Have ever shot from a 44 mag. & looking forward to more!

H-110 and Win-296 are the closest you can get to being the same powder and I have heard that they are. Anyway, either one of these powders, the one I can get the cheapest, is what I use for hot loads. I`ve taken alot of deer with a .44 mag. and have used alot of bullets. I have found that the 240 Sierra and the 240 Hornady are the best for accuracy, but that the Sierra has better terminal preformance on deer. They expand alittle better and hit alittle harder. I would give the edge to the XTP bullets for hogs or other tougher game animals though. Both are excellant bullets.

  H-110 is my fav powder for the 44 mag., and has been since the 70's...  I've used it for my 44 mag. competition loads and all of my hunting loads since then, and it's done a great job for me.

I just switched to H110 for reloading .410 shells. I am impressed with it. I get better patterns with H110 compared to W296. W296 is good powder too, I have used it for years for .410. I might be wrong but it seems that I can make  farther shots on squirrels using H110.

I use the H-110 for the heavy loads & Unique for light loads. The unique leaves alot of ash in the barrel. The H-110 leaves very little ash at all. This is in my 44 mag. Handgun. I have 2 different brands of brass for target & the heavier loads so I clean them together & I have noticed the brass that had H-110 in it cleans up easier.

H110 has always burned really nice to me.  Sometimes I will start out with the H110 full house loads, and then move down to the unique plinkers.  After a couple cylinders full of the plinkers is when my gun starts to get its 5oclock shadow.
