« on: August 20, 2007, 10:06:04 AM »
was any one tried to bend one of these.
i put a Green Mt. barrel on my hawkin and musket nipple. the hammer doesn't strike
the nipple center and causes the cap to miss fire, hammer needs to be bent or moved
some how about 1/32" to 1/16"

Never bent a Hawken hammer but most hammers have to be bent to fit.. It's likely mild steel and would bend cold. It could be heated if you wish.. I clamp them in a vise(safe jaws) by the tumbler ring or attachment end. Grab the hammer with a crescent wrench or pipe wrench and bend as needed. I like to keep the main part of the mass in line with the hammers motion, so twist the hammer to hit the nipple. Don't try bending on the gun!
