I know this is dumb question, but what is the paste (like rubbing compound) that you put on the bolt to help with break in? You put it on the locking lugs and cycle it about 100 times.I know I am having a brain fart right now so any help will be appreciated.

Thanks-Tim

I use JB Bore Paste personally. USP Bore Paste is same stuff just slightly different formula. Some use Flitz. Either will work fine.

Well you learn something new every day. I never heard of this process. I have used Flitz in the bores of some rifles I have had but never on the bolt. Does this just make the bolt cycle smoother? Is it necessary?    Dale

Thanks guys.Guess the old age and all the excitement of the upcoming Goat hunt is playing with the head. Will run out and get some tonight.

Dale, I have used it in the past and I think it really helps.not that Remington actions arent smooth, but doing this helps them fell like they are the "old gun" that cycles as smooth as silk.Just kinda takes the edges off of the locking lugs to help with a smooth lock-up.Hope this helps.
