The S&W 27 is as strong as any .357 Magnum out there I'd reckon. IF Hodgdon says it's a safe load for use in .357 Magnum guns then it should be safe in the S&W M27. Now I've not looked it up and do not know that they list it but if they do then for sure the M27 is a super strong gun and can take it if other guns so chambered can.

i've shot that load using an 180grxtp,and maybe the bullet design could come into play, but otherwise the load did fine.
given the aforementioned results, and no problems ejecting the cases,i am going to give some 170gr cast a try with
about 13.5 to 14 grs of lilgun. good luck, dan

I have used that very load in both my Rossi 92(16inch) and in my S&W model 28, a less fancy version of the 27,called a Highway Patrolman   hth   Doug

27s are some of the best and strongest ever made. I still own two of them.

I use a healthy load of 2400 under Hormaday 180 XTPs and get 1200 fps.
