My latest H&R Shotgun purchase.
« on: August 23, 2007, 02:32:13 PM »
Hi all,
I dropped by my local pawn shop last Friday, and would you believe I found a 12 gouge for $20. There was one problem with it. The little bar that fits between the hammer and the firing pin was missing. I couldn't pass it up, and brought it home with me.
I took the barrel off of it and it fit perfectly on my tracker II so I now have a smooth bore to go with my riffled barrel.
I just had to go the the range and try it out. I took some of my roll your own 7/8 oz. slugs and tried it out. On the 3rd shot I dead centered the 25 yd target. I was very happy with my $20 barrel.
I just love these guns. I also wonder if you can sent in the receiver for repair?
I am going to try it with some heavy loads and check out the recoil and accuracy this weekend.

Sure, give H&R a call in the am and let em know you want to send it in for replacement of the transfer bar(lifter and striker), or you can order the part to replace it yourself if you're the DIY type. ;)

Congrats, great buy!
If you send it in, add another barrel. I'm fond of the 20 and 28 ga. for squirrel hunting.

Download Perklo's instructions below, they're in the Centerfire FAQs also.
