Hello all, I am new rookie to black powder. Just purchased a new SS Sidekick, couldn't pass up the price $150, was at the gun shop hidden away. So what do I do now? Do I get the modified breech plug? What are the best rounds to shoot?Powder or pellet? I know there are plenty of you on the forum to help. Thanks for all help

First I would order the ramrod from Hubbardoutdoors. It is much stronger than the stock one, it has the correct threads in the rod (stock rod does not) It is two inches longer when extended making it a lot more usable than the stock rod. It has a relieved end to be compatible with pointed bullets which the stock rod is not. The rod is about $25. Then I would shoot it some to see how you like the plastic carriers. If you want you can always step up to the .25ACP conversion breechplug later. I did all of the above and also got a stock that works with a scope since I can scope the rifle in Arizona. Mine is a Huntsman not the sidekick but basically the same rifle. You have a fine rifle and the price was super. You will find that it will shoot sabots and conicals just fine.
