How to adjust the Remington X Mark Pro trigger?
« on: August 26, 2007, 03:04:02 PM »
The new Remington 700 SPS comes with this new Remington X Mark Pro trigger. Do any of you know how to adjust it? Can I do it myself? If I take the 2 hex head screws out of the bottom of the stock will that end up separating the action from the stock? If so would I need a tork wrench to put it back together? I think it is just one screw that needs backed off but I am unsure how to remove the trigger part of the rifle.       Dale

I've not had one of the new triggers yet so can't really speak to how they are adjusted. Why are you wanting to adjust it? Have you measured the pull and found it too heavy or do you just think because it's a factory trigger it must need to be adjusted? Seems to me the groups you're getting are saying it's pretty good as is. Why are you wanting to mess with it already?

But yes those two screws one at front of floor plate and one behind the trigger guard are what hold the action in the stock. I've never torqued mine back just tighten them up nicely. But again why are you so dead set on messing with the trigger already? Is this like your thoughts on having to use Flitz on the barrel?

Keep in mind this is not a handi rifle it's a Remington and it is unlikely to need all the tinkering you felt needed on a handi. Now I admit I've lowered the pull on most of my Remington 700s but only after measuring the pull and deciding it too heavy. I've heard the new ones with the new trigger come from the factory adjusted about like I've always made mine in the past.

Keep in mind you got the gun so you don't have to tinker with it all the time. I don't think I have touched any of my Remington triggers.

I recently purchased a 700 CDL SF in my favourite calibre...7-08, with the new trigger. I don't have any intention of adjusting it, not like other 700's I've had. There is no overtravel and the pull is very crisp, I would guess about 3.5 pounds, certainly alright with me. Having said all this, I still have to fire the piece. Next week I hope! ;D
