Buddy Al shot the snot out of his. Its very accurate. He did have some problems. His barrel was backing off loose and it shreared the ejector housing off because of it. He sent it to ruger and i havent asked how it shot with the new barrel. I bought one a while back but to be honest havent even put a round through it. I packed it up and sent it off to Dustin Linebaugh the day I got it. Its goint to be a flat topped 475 bisley some day when i get up the cash.

I've shot mine quite a bit as I've had it for over a year now. What do you want to know? I truely do like mine and it has become my favorite large bore single action revolver.

I was just curious as to everyone's general opinion of it. But it sounds like yours is doing fine. Is there anything you don't like about it?

Only thing I don't like is that I've been away working and haven't been able to shoot it.

That's about what I expected - I'd feel the same way.

Mine is well fitted and finished.  I especially like the cylinder indexing feature not to mention that you can safely carry six rounds.;D As with anything Ruger :o (apparently), you will probably need to do a trigger job. After a "poor boy trigger job" mine is light enough but has too much take up for my taste.  I sometimes get a bit of knuckle rap.  I tend to shoot milder cast bullet (RCBS 250 KT) loads in mine and even at the lower velocities (900 +/- fps) you know you're hitting the berm with something.  If you plan on shooting a lot of heavy loads I'd look at the Bisley or have a 'smith do a Bisley conversion; the grip frame handles the recoil better, IMO.

I shot mine for the first time today. I like the all steel feel of this sixgun but that itty bitty XR3 grip frame is going to have to be changed to the Bisley configuration. Mine shot fairly well, but being spoiled by my sixguns that have been tuned by Alan Harton it was TOUGH managing that long creepy factory trigger.

aint that the truth pal. After shooting customs for so long its hard to look at a out of the box ruger without thinking of it as a canvas to start a project with. ONly out of the box ruger i have right now is the montado and its had an action job done to it and in the future at least needs a belt mountain pin and a drift front sight.

I had one for a while but I traded it off without shooting it.  It just wasn't that much different from the standard SBH to make it anything special.  I do shoot the .357 50th Anniv. quite a bit and it's my favorite pistol.  It's very accurate and came with a fantastic trigger right out of the box.

I've got small hands so the XR3 grip fits perfect and with magnum loads I don't get knuckle rapped. For plinking loads I use my .44 Special load; Lee 240 gr TLSWC over 5 gr Bullseye in special cases. I goes 795 fps and is very pleasant and accurate. I've a 6 holer mould so I cast a lot of them and with 1M+ cases I load 'em on the Dillon SDB. Midrange magnum cast load has been the RCBS 44-250-SWC over 9 gr Unique for 1050 fps. My magnum cast load is the RCBS bullet over 22 gr 2400 (classic Keith load) which runs 1330 fps. These two cast loads with the RCBS bullet are quite accurate. My magnum hunting load is the 240 XTP over 24.5 gr H110 for 1427 fps and extremely good accuracy and terminal performance. I recently got a Lee 6 holer 429421 from a group buy over on the Cast Boolit forum. Haven't had a chance to cast any with it yet but imagine it will shoot just fine in the Ruger 50th Anniversary FTBH.
