What recoil pad for 1895?
« on: August 28, 2007, 10:24:32 AM »
I have a 1895  45-70 with pistol grip stock and 22" barrel and I'd like to get a prefit or slip on recoil pad for it.  I ordered the prefit Pachmayer for the guide gun but it didn't fit so I'm wandering if the 336 model pad will fit.  I can shoot factory fodder all day with the standard pad, but my Buffalo Bore loads get a little uncomfortable and I can't sight my rifle in with them.  Any suggestions on recoil pad size?

thanks,

Ken

I still haven't figured out the right size Limbsaver pad for the 1895.  I'm looking at the grind to fit and I think the "medium" is the right size.  Do any of you know what size?

Thanks,
Ken

I have a Shooters Friend that I slip on mine when I shoot heavy loads.  It's not the most elegant looking thing but it sure works.  I just got my .44 mag 1894 back from the gunsmith and I had him put on a grind to fit Limbsaver and it looks and works good.  After deer season I will probably have him put one on my 1895 too.

what size "grind to fit pad" will fit the 1895?  I've heard small and medium.  I think the small is for the guide gun and the medium is for the pistol grip stock like I have but I'm not sure.  Can somebody help me out?

The Grind-to-fit sizes are listed on the Limbsaver site.
