Porter/Cable bearings
« on: August 30, 2007, 03:16:29 AM »
Hi folks,

Just wanted to pass along some insight I recently gained in regard to a PC random orbit sander I have.  I have always felt that my PC tools were the best I have. but after experiencing some trouble with this sander, I am disappointed in this "American made" tool.

The thing slowed down, and after a thorough dis assembly, I found that the armature bearing seals had failed, and were full of dust.  No grease in there at all, just dust.  And, of course, clearly marked on the grease seals were the words "made in China".  A good cleaning, and grease packing got the tool back into service, but the disappointment factor will be long lived.

Is there anything left that is truly "made in America" with some pride, and quality?

I had 2 of the same ones. The same thing happened to both. The last one I bought was a Hattachi.    Dale
