Casehead failure
« on: June 06, 2003, 03:06:05 PM »
I'm dealing with a moron on another board who flatly refuses to believe that that excessive pressure and cause a case head to fail and the escaping gases to wreck a shotgun.

Anyione got a link to a good writeup of pictures of this?

Sorry, don't have any links or pictures, but do have a good bit of scar tissure on the cornea of my right eye that gets a lot of attention when I go to the ophthalmologist. I aquired this courtesty of a Winchester buckshot load and a mdl 97 Winchester Trench Gun, when the case head failed and the action blew open. This happened back in the 70s, but it's still fresh in my mind. Especially when I see the dark spots and floaters when I am trying to focus.

Man your talking about some serious over loading to get a shot shell to blow! I've been reloading since I was old enough to shoot and never seen a blown hull! ::) I'm talking many years shooting skeet and trap!
