RCBS Dies and Nosler bullet
« on: June 06, 2003, 03:24:04 PM »
I recently bought RCBS dies for my Lee press.  I am loading 150 grain Nosler Ballistic tips for my 30-06.  I have noticed that the bullet consistently has a scratch below the tip when it comes out of the seating die.  I have lubed the neck and the bullet with no noticeable difference.
Any ideas?

Thanks!

It sounds to me like you have a burr on the seating stem. Disassemble the die and look at the stem where it contacts the bullet. I'd bet theres a burr or a sharp corner.  KN

I had the same problem with a Lee seating plug... turned out that there was a rough edge or burr inside. I used some very fine steel wool to smooth it out... I'd bet that is the problem.
