30-30 and cast 150gr + altering rifle at range report

Did some shooting at the range today from the bench . The pic is at 100yards factory sight. Had some unburnt powder issue but I think that if I had not re-sized the bullets from the mold I would have been fine.
Lee 150gr mold sized at .308, although the sizer says .309
25gr of Varget. Lee factory crimp, Lyman gas check and cast using wheel weights.

Top group is the stock from factory rifle 4 shots.
I then did MicPherson's quick trigger job that he explained in his book, Accurizing the Factory Rifle. A noticeable difference in trigger pull and it only took 5 min. As well as taking a rat tail file to the forearm and removing where the wood contacted to the metal "shank' that the mounting screw threads into.

Giving me the bottom 5 shot group.
Without adjusting the sights notice the point of impact change after the mods.

Nice shooting!! A note of caution in using McPerson's trigger lightening method, several members here have broken the sear notch off the hammer doing that, so be forewarned.

I wonder Quick and this is not to start a flame war, but did they do it right?
Could you point me to those topics or someone could explain what happened.

They did it from his instructions, how they actually did it I have no clue, but what one person feels is 20lbs pressure and what hurts them, is a matter only determined by them. For the record, I tried it on several Handis and never got an appreciable measureable reduction in trigger pull using a Lyman digital guage, it has been reported to work sometimes in old posts, but I wonder if it wasn't on older H&R firearms, McPherson's book was published in '99, so he definitely was working with older firearms, likely the original H&R's. I know for a fact that the Topper hammers are softer than current production, they can be drilled and tapped for installing a Win 94 hammer spur extension without being annealed, current production hammers are too hard, need to be annealed first.

I can't remember the names of those that did it, I found one at RFC that I helped, but I have too many posts here to search thru em to find them.

Nice, hope I can get that good of a group with open sights when I get my Handi 30-30, (on my Santa list this year).

I bought this H&R off the used rack (looked new) for $150 a couple months ago. All I did was clean it top to bottom, and then the small mods at the range.
Shot 5 jacketed round through, off hand a while back.
Lots of fun to come with this little jewel.

Here are a couple more fellas that have broken sear notches on their hammers, not while doing the marrying, but actual trigger hones.
