Special Run Old Army
« on: September 01, 2007, 04:27:27 AM »
A friend of mine is closing up shop and has an engraved stainless or nickel plated (haven't seen it yet)old army and wants to sell it to me. Does anyone know of such beast and is it a distributor item or a factory Ruger item?

Ruger did not offer an engraved stainless Old Army as a standard catalog item. It may be a special order or it was engraved after shipping. You can call Ruger (603-865-2442) with the serial number to see what they sold the gun as and when it was shipped.
There is a serial number history page on their web site as well:

Yes, they made the Liberty model which was a standard catalog item and they made several engraved over the years for the RCA and their distributors.

Yep, you're right. Forgot all about the Liberty. Let's see, now, where did I put my glasses...
