Well I did it got a 16.5" 300Mag...
« on: June 06, 2003, 06:34:07 PM »
I cut down my 26" 300Mag barrel to 16.5" put a target crown on it and had it drilled and taped for a pistol forend. So I can also use it with the pistol or rifle forend.I also got to shoot it today with factory 180gr Corelocks it grouped 1 3/4 to 2" at 100 yards.Bad news is my 9v batt. was DEAD.So I couldn't run it over the chrono  I'll try it again come Saturday and let you guys know what she does.Recoil was not much more than my 15" '06.It just has more push the '06 has a sharp twist and crack to it than the 300Mag.I will also add this is one fun barrel to shoot and I could stand to shoot it all day long and still keep all my TEETH   Oh ya I forgot this barrel has no brake if you were woundering.

16.5 300 Win mag

PJ:  Good luck on the 300 Win Mag Bbl, I think not having a muzzle break is a good thing on your part.  I have a Super 16 45/70 Bbl with a muzzle break, which causes the gun to come straight back in my hand.  Like everyone else be interested in how your barrel works out.....Ken 8)
