a couple weeks ago i bought my 13 yr old son the 100 atr matte black/camo in 308.he earned the money working around my jobsites this summer but i held onto some of it for him so it wasn't spent on video games and cd's.i put a cheep tasco scope on it to see how it would shoot,he is going to earn the money for a new nikon,[good way to get extra fall yard work done as well.]
anyway, after a couple trips to the range i have it shooting a 165 grn hornady with 44 grns of 4064 into honest 3/4 inch three shot groups at 50 yds.i haven't had a chance to shoot it for group at 100,seeing's how he shot up the rest of the ammo i brought.we have a bunch of 10" dia. heavy steel discs we use as rifle silhouetes.he didn't have any prob dusting them out to 90 yds,off hand.
my overall opinion, very good rifle for the money,$300 don't buy you much anymore,i know i have paid a hell of a lot more for rifles that didn't shoot any better.handles nice, light for a full frame rifle, decent trigger, nice cushy buttpad[my 9 yr old was shooting it as well]
suggested upgrades would be,improved safety lever, drop floor plate or magazine, and a little more tolerance in the chamber[chamber seems to be cut quite tight causing some cartridges that were full lenght resized,to make the bolt hard to close],but again what do you want for $300.good luck with it,adker
