Lobbing Bull Shops in the Rock Pit....
« on: September 02, 2007, 11:35:32 AM »
First of all I need to get a couple of points straight....
1. Because of Semisane's rules -and I am not supersitious - just do not want to temp fate.... but, anyway trying very hard to bypass rule #1 - I decided instead of shooting the Remington - I would take the Renegade with the GM-LRH-SS 50 cal on it - that way what ever I did last time would not apply.....

Here are the Rules....

Quote
Semisane’s Ten Laws Of Muzzle Loading

1. Whatever worked yesterday will not work today.

2. Whatever works for your buddy will not work for you.

3. No matter how much gear you bring to the range, you will need something you left home.

4. Heavier or lighter bullets will probably shoot better than what you are using.

5. Heavier or lighter powder charges will probably shoot better than what you are using.

6. The best muzzle loader to have is one that loads from the muzzle - lock style and ignition methods are not relevant.

7. The more people watching, the worse you will shoot.

8. Dry holes happen (see law #7).

9. You don’t shoot often enough.

10. You need one more gun.

2.  Whom ever decided that more than 3 shots are necessary in a group to really prove something - and I have no idea what... It was either Dave or Yoeman - I hate cha!  I could have been perfectly happy with my first three shots and moved on to centering it Left/Right.... naw! instead I said to myself "go ahead and prove you are macho - shoot a 5 shot group.  Well I was really proud of myself throught shot #5 - then I thought...(mistake) - go get one more in then start the movement to the right... Shot #6 - THANKS! dang it!

The whole purpose of the trip was to shoot the new .503's I had just gotten from Dan.  I have been shooting a .504.  + the new mold is a little bit different than the old 460 mold so I wanted to see if they shot the same.  I forgot to say on the target that there was a .125x.510 shot card under the bullet.

For me with open sights this is about as good as I can do.  As I look down the barrel the sights are in focus but the target is just slightly blurry @ 100 yards.  I can see the "V" notch in the target OK but for me to line the front sight in the rear sight precisely each time and on the same place on the target is difficult.  Just do not shoot open sights enough... gosh wish i could see like I use to...

Oh! after shot #8 - I got bored and went to shooting clay pigeons - I like it when the gun goes boom and somethen out thar breaks.  A pigeon @ 125 yards and a gun rest stands no chance!

It was fun shooting though once I said the heck with Semisane's rules and the pressure of posting here...
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - they are a blast....
