etiquette question
« on: September 03, 2007, 06:25:04 PM »
I might just be getting prickly in my old age, but if someone posts a question on a forum wouldn't it be polite to acknowledge the replies that the other members give?

Even a simple, "thanks for the input" after a few days pass.....

(okay it would be ironic if no one replied to this too)

That's one of my pet peaves, chaps my hide when folks take the time to answer, then the OP never responds. I have a mental list of all those that have done it here. On other sites, I put them on my ignore list, I'll be darned if I'll ever respond to or help them again, it's just plain common courtesy to at least offer a thank you!! >:(

Thanks for the inputs---however,  I belong to other lists where the "thanks" replies are discouraged in order to save space and excessive replies-- I agree that a thanks not only are polite and serve to let the poster let the list know when "his" question is answered and the thread can progress as a discussion.

THANKS for all the info you folks have furnished

There are LOTS of tiny little sites out there who have but a minimum amount of band width allowed each month and they do all they can to try and stay within it. Once up on a time we too had such bandwidth limitations and going over was some kinda expensive as I'm sure it is with the sites you mention.

These days we're pretty much unlimited. I think currently we're allowed 1000 gigs per month on each of our two servers but when we move to the new servers we'll have no limits at all as I understand it. But really 2000 gigs per month is not a limit until you have a million members I don't think.
