Lee 113gr "Soup Can" with Unique powder

Can any of you fine folks share your secret recipes or point me in the right direction where I can find some reload data on this boolit.  I've looked at several manuals, but all list 150-170grs. only.  I have a pound of Unique to use with this boolit.  Any info. would be appreciated.  Later. ;D

A quick search on GOOGLE, looking for LEE 113GR "soupcan" bullet, turned up this:

 Sorry, I have no personal information on this bullet.
 I also notice quite an affinity for pistol powders in rifles... I know many do it and it can work. Ialso know of a couple who have tried and either are not here to speak for them selves or are missing vital parts of there anatomy. There are many good rifle powders out there that have much more appropriate burning rates and will do what I think your trying to accomplish. They will do it much SAFER as well. JMHO  ;)

It might be helpful if we knew what cartridge you were going to put them in!

  in Lymans cast bullet hand book edition 3 ,page178, there is a 311441 bullet shown. It weighs 115 grains and LOOKS a lot like the "soup can" by Lee. powders listed run the gamut from red dot thru RX7 Velocities go from 1300= to 2585 fps. Bullet is a #2 Lyman alloy  It shows a start charge of 7.5 grains of Unique for anFPS of 1480  and a MAX charge of 11.4 grains for 1913 fps at a pressure of 36,400CUP. primers were Win 8 1/2 -120's.. Loads were developed in a universal Receiver. A Max load  of 20 grains of 630 powder was listed as "potentially most accurate"  and 2289fps. Start at 13.5 grains and work up. It a Topper 158 in 30/30 with a 22" barrel.  Thanks for all of the replies guys.

I get excellent results in a Marlin with a 170 grain bullet and 9.2 grains of Unique.

For what you are doing I would try around 5 grains of Unique. Since you load a drop barrel with the barrel facing down - I would raise the barrel and tap on the stock a bit to get the powder back towards the primer. Be consistent however you do it.

jgalar, I did the raising of the barrel a tad and tapped the forearm stock in hopes of getting the powder down in the case before every shot.  Like many have suggested, I'll back off a bit on the Unique and watch for uneven bullet seating and incorporate a Lee Factory crimping die.  It might solve my issues.  Thanks for your response.  Take care and hope you have a great work day. ;D

The Lee "soupcan" has quite a following over at castbullets.com.  I'll bet someone has used Unique with it in a .30-30.  I use a 93 gr. Lee plain base in my NEF .30-30...great plinking and no gas check.

I'm shooting those in a 157 30-30 ackley improved with 7 grains of  unique  they make one ragged hole at 40 yards and don't destroy a squirrel I'll run a few over the chronograph  some day and let you know how fast the are. I got a 170 gr flat point mold coming
