Best powder(s) for .17 Remington
« on: September 04, 2007, 10:58:12 AM »
I am starting to reload for .17 Remington, TC 14" barrel.   Any suggestions as to the best powder for that cartridge/barrel combination?  Also, will be shooting a 25 gr Hornady HP.

Winchester 748 is good, it meters and loads into the little necks well.  For 25gr bullets is works good.  If you go to 30gr bullets then 760 is a little better.  I would urge you to go with a little better bullet, Bergers are a lot more accurate, but if you are concerned with price stick with the Hornady.  Larry

Thanks for the info.  Will go back to range today with some new loads.  And yes, have already purchased 200 Bergers to load.  Will try the 748 today.
Thanks!

Any powder that shoots well in the .223 will do good in the .17 Rem. I used to shoot alot of BLc-2 in mine, but any powder near it on the burn rate chart will work.
