I am sure Paul has as many Skeletons as the rest of the pack

If you can find any, you get back with me.

He's a Christian who served 5 years as a flight surgeon in the air force and is an obstetrics physician who has delivered over 4000 children,.... while your buddy Fred Thompson was out talking money to help get them aborted.

That hardly nominates him for Sainthood we have all heard of Christians who where less then perfect and comitted crimes and sins against their fellow man even clergy.  Same thing with Doctors there has been more than a few that committed crimes against their fellow man. I am not saying he did anything wrong and I will not waste my time looking either as I really do not care  but who knows what could be in his past these days with Politics it does not take much of a scandal  to change things around. I do not have to look if there is any dirt the press will root it out. If he is clean more power to him. As far as Thompson goes he is smart enough to know his past will be under a magnifying glass expecially after the last few elections so if he thinks his record will not hurt him why should I worry about it.

Couldn't find any, eh?

I didn't think you would. Dr. Ron Paul is an exceptionally ethical man.

You cannot read? I said I was not going to bother. If I felt I needed to prove a point I may look I do not feel I do. I stated any dirt that will show up the press will do it they are good at it. If not fine. What I want to know is WHY THE HARD SELL on Paul. Your not going to convince me or any other person who decides they may like some one else. Bottom line is who winds up winning the nomination at the convention is what is going to determine who  I vote for. I will say right now it will be no demoncrat. So that leaves who ever wins the Republican nomination and that has some folks I am less than happy with too and I am not talking about Paul at the moment.

Fine,... I just thought you'd like some information on how Fred Thompson worked as a lobbyist for the pro abortion forces.

That's a very important issue for many of us conservatives.

Fred Thompson is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) which is a group of highly placed globalists who have been pushing for amnesty for illegals.

That's also an issue which is important to most conservatives.

Fazak... Don’t waste your time, there are some here who will preach till the end of time just exactly what they have been programmed to believe by the Corporate Mass Media and will never listen to logic or reason nor will they participate in intelligent discussion of the candidates / issues  / stance on the issues and such. But they will talk out their a$$ and say things about topics they are totally ignorant to.

demoncrat

Now I like that spelling almost as much as mine: dumocrap.  ;D

I just don't trust Thompson. My gut tells me he speak with forked tongue as the indians used to say of the white man in general. He seems to say one thing but do another. Kinda reminds me of Bush who I did support TWICE even but now am totally ashamed of.

I have to admit that the more I look the better Ron Paul looks but have serious doubts he can win the nomination. I'm still undecided on who I'll support this time around but if it's the way my luck usually runs whoever I support won't win anyway as the things I seem to look for are not what the majority look for whether it's in a politician or a TV show. Clearly I must be in the minority in the way my opinions run on most issues.

Ya know who I'd REALLY like to see in that office? Newt Gingrich. Yeah I know he blew it and will never be able to be elected dog catcher again but I still think he'd make the best man for the job.

Ron Paul isn't a third party candidate.

He's running for the Republican nomination.

Yes i realize what he is ! but in the long run i feel the only way to change will be to have a third party as the Leaders of the existing two will not change , no one will give up power until forced to and a third party seems the next logical step toward getting back on track !
R.P. has been around for some time but his work seems to be kept quiet by the party leaders , i hope it gets out in time but he would be a thorn in their side it seems !

Shootall you put a third cadidate in that looks attractive to some Republicans all you will succeed in doing is put a demoncrat in for sure.

Matt I have a right to my opinion just as much as fazak or you do. I am not accusing you of talking out of your ass and I resent the fact that those that do not support your candidate are made to sound or look stupid. You should take a lesson from your dad while he may disagree with you he does not belittle you.  >:(

I have talked to many defense attourneys, they tell me," No I don't like the guy, or what he did, but my job is to get him off, or the lightest sentence possiable".  Same thing with lobbiest, it is their job.  We've  all done jobs we did not like, same with them.

So I don't see that as a valid reason to not vote for someone.  I want to look at his actual voting record, and his personallity.  Many people did not like Reagen, simply because he was a pretty boy actor, did not make sense to me at the time.  Now I'm  hearing similer things being said.  It's great to live in a free country where we can make our own decisions to vote responsiably, or to just throw our vote away, due to some petty little feeling we have.  It's your right, do what you feel you have to do.

Just sometimes enough people look at the big picture and make the right decissions.  Then again sometimes they don't.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Here's what the NRA has to say about the "so called" Campaign Finance Reform bill.

http://www.nraila.org/Issues/FactSheets/Read.aspx?id=203

Like to think your opinion counts? Under the guise of reforming election funding, Sen. John McCain and others are attempting to muzzle your voice concerning critical national issues--including the Second Amendment.

Fred Thompson was one of only 4 Republican senators who voted for it.

I can't recall ever doing anything on the job that went against my personal standards of conduct or my personal beliefs. In fact I once took a stance that came perilously close to a point that could get me fired for refusing to obey a direct command from a superior because I knew it was wrong and illegal.

I did consult with the attorney and got his input on how to walk the fine line I was about to walk up front. It all worked out OK in the end but for awhile it was a touch and go situation and it put me on the bad list for a lot of high placed folks from that point until the end of my career which I ended up cutting short by five years and taking an early retirement when it was offered.

I guess I don't buy that lawyers "have to do things they don't like" just because it's the job. No one forced them to take the job or the particular assignment and if it offended their morals or went against their beliefs and yet they did it anyway for money then that's exactly why I can't support such a person. I feel they'd do it again and go against what they say they stand for just for the money offered them to do it. You either have to stand for something or be nothing.

Well Bill not trying to argue but look at defense lawyers they are paid to get folks off of the crimes they are accused of. We all have heard about those that knowing their clients admit they are guilty try to get them off. Now I could not do such a job (of course I am not a lawyer either)   but some do and have no issues about it. I have no idea what kind of law Thompson practiced so I cannot comment on that.

You protest too much any one does that is trying to hide something in my opinion.

So if one protests then one is hiding something... Ok what are you hiding? You protest for bush and the war as much if not more then anyone else... Shall I go on...

What I have read on Thompson he  is Pro Life and Pro Gun.

Please point out your source for this information that you read.

I will give you a hint right now most of the stuff you find on the Internet can be slanted or is slanted or skewed to a viewers point of view and not always entirely accurate. Especially these Internet news sources that are written by most any Tom, Dick or Harry.
How is it that you would know any of this seeing as you will not even take the time to research Ron Paul, You speak out your a$$ without having  a clue... Ignorance must be bliss...

Like Sourdough said A Lawyer or Lobbyist may do jobs that does not agree with their personal beliefs but they are still hired to do them.
Well if the man does a job that goes against his morals for money then the man never had any morals.... NEVER will I go against my morals and values for a buck...

I have taken jobs I did not care for but it payed the bills as do most of us.
Well I already didnt have much reverence for you and now it is even less... So would you take a job handing out fliers to help repeal the 2nd, or maybe you would just drive the car for the folks and let someone else give them out so that you are not to look anti gun... Or maybe you would be the printer of the fliers so you could remain unseen...  No matter by doing any of the above YOU WOULD BE ANTI GUN!

All you have to do is read any of my post on the Internet to know I am pro gun. your trying to bait the wrong fellow I am not going to bite.
Well to be honest with you all I read in your posts is the ignorance of a Good'Ole Boy that has been completely brainwashed by the Mass Misinformation Media

Matt, I would like to add something to your logic, but alas, there is nothing to add. ALL good points. It is beyond me why anyone would choose an ACTOR over a DOCTOR, for leadership, when the ACTOR not only makes his living PRETENDING to be someone, and something he IS NOT, has taken jobs that go AGAINST, what he says he is for, and the doctor in this case, makes his living VOTING IN CONGRESS, "FOR" what he says he believes in.

Matt I did several searches on Thompson's views of the issues. He has also stated his conservative views on TV shows like Leno and others which I have watched so that is getting the info direct.  Must be nice to have such a holier than though attitude. There is a difference in getting info from the source and that of a news source that may or may not be credible. Like I said before at least your daddy if he disagrees with you does not belittle you. If one of us as moderators said to a member they were talking out of their ass we would be gone your dad would say see ya. Rank has privileges eh! The reason I never looked up what kind of lawyer Fred was is I really do not care. I am going on what he is saying and what his Senate Record was yes at one time I looked it up. You I would bet am not a lawyer I am not either but it is a fact that most Politicians are and I would bet in the past you voted for one so why single out Thompson except for the fact that you and your cronies here are trying to push Paul down every ones throats here. I already said I would vote for him over a Demoncrat if the choice comes to that but until that time I should be able to support any candidate I want with out being belittled by one of the forum owners.

Thompson has been in and around Govt. since the 70's, LONG before becoming an actor.  He's always been consistent and up front.  Anybody can have skeletons, we'll find out.  He's the best in the race now.

Interesting how much the Ron Paul supporters sound like the Perot people. Assigning any and all perfection and savior to them both, filling the glass that is them with it all. "Blindly following", head in the clouds or sand?

Hey nomo,  follow me on this.......Bill Frist and Ron Paul, both Doctors, therefore both scientists.  Hillary says she unquestionably supports science/scientists.  Does that mean support for Ron Paul AND Hillary?  Dee? What do you think?

jh45gun , not it they start out at the local level and grow a reform party ! they will gain strength as they grow local then take it national and win ! this would take lots of work , so i don't hold my breath !
I feel that voting for Doctor or Actor is much like voting for hair color !
Lets listen to what they say , and look back at what they do !

Fred Thompson is just the talking head who has been assigned to play the role of a GOP presidential candidate by his handlers.

God help America if the people have reached the point that they can't even see through this flagrantly obvious fact.

Good Points.   One also should be able to support who you want with out ridicule. Those that support R P great more power to you on the other hand I or any one else here should be able to support who ever they want with out the ridicule. Now I am not talking about if you have an issue with a candidate go ahead and say whats on your mind but to say members here are ignorant and talking out of their ass just because they do not support RP  Is pure BS. I am sure if a member did that here they would be censured.
