stripped screw hole synthetic stock recoil pad
« on: September 06, 2007, 03:39:03 PM »
I have a Mossberg shotgun with synthetic stock.  The Limbsaver replacement came with short 1" stainless screws.  One of them stripped the plastic threads in the stock.

Should I drill a deeper hole and use a longer screw?
Fill with epoxy and reinsert screw?  With release agent on screw?
Find same length screw with coarse threads and use existing hole?

I lean toward drill hole deeper and use longer screw.

Sounds like you have it handled just fine. I don't think I would drill it out and use a longer screw though. The epoxy sounds like the way to go.       Dale

I would use JB Weld to fill the holes, then drill em out to the correct size for the screws after it cures. ;)
