I have a Marlin lever rifle Mod 36 G.When I look it up I find Mod.36 were discontinued in 1948 but this is .or appears to be of more recent manufacture.Birch stock and micro groove Bbl.Any one have any input as to just what I have here. It's a 30-30,20"Bbl,short magazine tube.

It sounds to me like someone added a more modern M-336 barrel & a Glenfield (birch) stock to a third variation Model 36 receiver - and possibly the mag, etc, too.

Well the rub there is that the Barrel is stamped Mod.36-G-----------------C 30-30 Glenfield products N.H. Ct.
So I think the Bbl. is original and the "hardwood" stock.None of the books I have even mention the Glenfields, and if I remember right they were sold in these parts in Western Auto stores.......Any other guesses

Any other "rubs", or pertinent information you're holding back (or "forgot"), while others are guessing ?
Like maybe a hanging tag or owner's manual/pamphlet with more details.

Some info that I gleaned from another popular Marlin forum indicates that the Model 36G was the 336 as produced under the Glenfield name in 1964-65, with ~5930 produced. It had a birch stock and a shortened magazine tube (sort of like the old 336A).

Rangr44....another rub is ..it is scoped with a 4x32 Monoscope with what look to be weaver mounts.I have never heard of this scope.and it's made in Japan.
njanear.....it sure looks like a 336...you may have something there.I guess that because it's a glenfield not much info is available. No one I talk with has any input so I'm still fishing.I have'nt shot it yet but it functions well.....
Thanks for the input ..........Bob Allen
